Tarantula Hawk week adventures. We had never heard of tarantula hawk wasps prior to moving to Arizona. They are very interesting creatures, with a very painful sting and a morbid way of raising their young. Sunday 6/11/2023 - Tarantula Hawks and Coyotes!!

Hey everyone! It’s Rex, reporting in for the day. As usual on the weekends anymore, my sister chickened out of our walk today because of scary boom noises. But Mom and I still had fun exploring a little different route.

So, guess what we stumbled across? A tarantula hawk wasp, which looked pretty with its colorful wings. However, mom warned me to stay away from it. While they are not normally aggressive towards humans and animals, if they feel threatened, they may sting. And their stings are incredibly painful!

After that, we ran into one of our coyote buddies. He was just hanging out and watching us from afar. We decided no need to say hi and potentially raise any trouble. And we also counted at least 39 bunnies on our walk! My sister really missed out on all the action, I wish she wasn’t such a scaredy-cat.

Anyways, thanks for tuning in! Talk to you all later. Rex out!

Tuesday 6/13/2023 - Dog Park Drama

Rex here tonight for a quick update. Just got home from the dog park and we had big drama there. Fortunately, it had nothing to do with us and it was not in the dog park itself, but in the park area right outside the dog park.

There was a big firetruck, a couple of police cars and a paramedics truck. From what we could gather, it looked like a family dispute. Possibly a younger person that was arguing with an adult, either a parent or older sibling. And it escalated to the point where the police had to be called. We believe that the fire and paramedics trucks were there just as a precaution, in case one of the people became unstable.

It was very exciting for me, as I thrive off energy, and there was a lot of energy there. Mom ended up taking me to the far side of the dog park and played ball with me to distract me. Of course, my sister just chilled the entire time as she doesn’t tend to get as excited as I do.

From what we could tell, the emergency management teams were able to calm everyone down and defuse the situation, so it was a good outcome.

That’s all for tonight, hopefully that is the last of that type of drama we encounter. Talk later – Rex out!!

Isla and Rex exciting walk morning

Thursday 6/15/2023 - sprinklers, bunnies, tarantula hawk and friends!

Hey guys! It’s Isla! You won’t believe how much fun we had on our morning adventure today! So many cool things happened!

At first, I almost chickened out when I heard a loud noise, but mom and Rex convinced me to keep going with some treats. We hit up the bunny park first, and the grass sprinklers had me hyped! I got to play in them, but Mom wouldn’t let Rex because he’s a wild man.

Next, we moved on to another park filled with bunnies and guess what? More sprinklers! Rex finally got to play in them because mom was able to control him better.

And we ran into some friends too! Mason and Emmy had these fancy cooling neck collars that looked we are going to try. Once we do we will let you know what we thing.  After that, we made friends with a cute corgi, but didn’t catch their name 🙁 We also said hi to our buddy Milo and met a new friend, the man who always leaves water out for us! At first Rex was kind of a jerk. But mom pulled Rex aside and explained how nice the man was being and got Rex calmed down.

But wait, there’s more! We saw two tarantula hawk wasps and my mom made us stay far away. Sounds like they’re out and about right now.

Thanks for listening to my crazy adventure! Talk to you later! Isla signing off!
