Saturday 7/1/2023 - The Summertime Fireworks Begin

Hey, it’s Isla! Fireworks season has officially started and I’m not really digging it. In Iowa, it goes on for weeks before and after, but here in Arizona, it only starts a few days before the 4th. Since we hadn’t heard any yet, we went for our normal walk to the park. Of course, someone had to set one off right after we left the splash pad. It was super scary because then more started going off. Thankfully, Mom and Dad got me home quickly, safe and sound.

Once we were inside, I felt much better. I did have to go sit in the shower for a little bit to calm down. Mom and dad sat outside on the back patio for a while. I eventually joined them once I was calmer and sat on mom’s lap. As long as I was on her lap, I was good. I’m not sure if I’ll be venturing out too much this week with all the booms happening, but I’ll keep you posted on any fun adventures that happen. Isla signing off for the night!

Monday 7/3/2023 - Fun sprinklers, a rattlesnake and insane bunny counts!!

What’s up everyone? Isla here today and I made it out today – no scary noises last night so I figured it was okay to come outside today.  I gotta tell you, today was a wild ride! Mom got us sweet bandanas for Rex’s gotcha day, and they looked cool on us. With the summertime heating up, we decided to head out earlier and take more breaks. We stumbled onto a little park with sprinklers and mom let us have fun in them to cool off. Of course, Rex had to be a troublemaker and try to break them, but mom knew his tricks and was able to prevent that.

We ran into all kinds of friends while we were out: our corgi friend, Joe and his little poodle pal, Mason, Emmy, and Milo. Rex got excited seeing all his buddies, he’s turning into quite the social butterfly.

We also saw four road runners, a dozen lizards, six prairie dogs, and even a tarantula hawk! But wait, you won’t believe this! Tons of bunnies – record-breaking numbers! Seventy-four bunnies, wow. That is 7 and 4!! That was a lot of bunnies! Now we need to hit our next goal of eighty bunnies!!

And that’s not even the end of it. Towards the end of our walk, we stopped for a break at the park like usual. Mom found out later that there was a rattlesnake just ten feet away from us! Yikes, luckily, we were able to avoid him like the plague.

That’s it for now, folks. Hope your week is going well and catch you later! Isla, signing off!

Wednesday 7/5/2023 - July 4th Hangover and Summertime Shelter Dogs

Hey, what’s up guys? It’s your pal Rex here. Another 4th of July has come and gone, and let me tell you, it wasn’t the most chill night. Those fireworks had me and my sis Isla pretty shook. Isla was so scared, she hid out in the shower. But eventually, she came out and snuggled up with us on the bed.

This morning, Mom took us out for our walk a little earlier than usual. She was on her way to help out at the shelter, so we had to hustle. Isla didn’t want to go at first, I think she was scared there were going to be loud boom noises again. But Mom lured her out with some treats (classic move, Mom) and then she was fine. We took a different route to the bunny park, but there weren’t as many bunnies as usual (thanks, fireworks).

Mom said she is going to remember her phone this week when she walks the dogs so we can see pictures of them. Can’t wait to see them. So, until next time, see ya later – Rex out!
